Southey Farm owned by Alan and Zoe Paramore and is located on the side of the Blackdown Hills near Wellington. The Team at Southey enjoys promoting the Iberian breeds and most especially the Portuguese Lusitano.

The main star of the Yard Team is the black stallion Atinado. Now 14 years old Atinado was bought by Zoe as an unbroken three year old direct from his famous breeder Jorge Ortigao Costa in Azambuja Portugal.  Atinado’s progeny have all inherited his super temperament, his looks and his movement. He is currently working at British Dressage level Inter II with rider Andrew Robbins, regularly competes with Zoe at side saddle and on three occasions has ridden through London as part of the New Year’s Day Parade.  In recent years he has been shown and has won at the Royal Windsor Horse Show, the Royal Cornwall County Show, the Royal Bath & West Show, as well as being the Iberian Champion at the Spanish Show in Hartpury and at the Iberian Performance Show in Surrey.  Atinado’s favourite discipline however is to work with the Vara (a 4 meter long pole) which he will be demonstrating to music during the display with rider Ricardo Wallenstein.

Ricardo Wallenstein is a Portuguese International Grand Prix and World Cup dressage rider who exclusively holds regular clinics at Southey Farm from his home and yard south of the Tagos River opposite Lisbon.

Zoe’s mare Esmeralda is 10 years old and competes at British Dressage at Advanced Medium level and was the Overall Show Champion at the South West Iberian Show in 2018.  Zoe bought Esmeralda direct from her breeder Alexander Dorey as a weanling (6 months old).  Alexander breeds his horses at Morgardo Lusitano which is located at Alverca some 30 kms east of Lisbon.

The Southey Farm Display includes riders from Southey Farm who will be riding their own Iberian Horses.

We do hope you enjoy watching Team Southey Farm and that you will appreciate the passion and love that we have for these beautiful horses from the Iberian Peninsula.
